Preface
On the occasion of the 56th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Italy, the two ancient civilizations of the East and West are composing a new chapter of cultural integration. The thousand-year-old Silk Road has been a bond of friendship, and the dialogue between ancient and modern times has continued the friendship. Art has always been a solid bridge connecting the hearts of the two peoples and enhancing mutual appreciation between civilizations.
In this special feature, we proudly introduce the Cultural Exchange Art Ambassadors for the 56th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Italy. They use art as a medium, integrating Eastern artistic conception with Western elegance, conveying the beauty of civilized coexistence through their masterful works, and continue to write the story of friendship between the two countries with sincerity and commitment.
They are the guardians of Chinese cultural heritage and the practitioners of Sino-Italian cultural exchanges. Using art as a bridge to overcome the barriers of mountains and seas, and craftsmanship as a pen to write the resonance of civilizations, they aspire to make this a new beginning, allowing the flowers of Sino-Italian art to bloom forever, and the friendship between the two countries to be passed down through mutual appreciation of civilizations, together embarking on a glorious chapter!
Kong Lingdong, courtesy name Lingnan Mofu, alias Jianwu Zhai Master, was born into a family of literary heritage. From an early age, he developed a profound passion for calligraphy and painting, adhering to his family's teachings of the elegance of Liu Gongyu and the robustness of Yan Zhenqing, practicing methodically until his university years. After graduation, he dedicated over four decades to primary and secondary education while continuously exploring the arts. His prolific writing contributed to numerous publications, serving society through his literary endeavors. Recently, he has focused intently on the cursive scripts of Chairman Mao Zedong and Yu Youren, meticulously studying and practicing their styles. Through careful contemplation and deep appreciation, he has gained a profound grasp of the poetic essence and artistic spirit of these masters, significantly advancing his calligraphic skills. His works have been featured in postal stamps issued nationwide by China Post and have been collected by international friends from Malaysia, Thailand, the United States, North Korea, Japan, and other countries. His biographical sketches and artworks have been included in multiple reference books such as *Chinese Calligraphy Anthology* and *World Masterpieces of Painting and Calligraphy Appreciation*. His competition entries earned him a silver award in the Wanfu Cup National First Poetry, Calligraphy, and Painting Competition, a gold medal in the Third "Guicui Heritage Cup" National Calligraphy and Painting Art Competition, a silver award in the 2022 "Cultural Heritage" National Calligraphy and Painting Competition, and numerous other bronze and honorable mentions
